Qualifications

holisticaholics therapists are trained to VTCT level 3 high standards. The Vocational Training Charitable Trust, to give it its full title, started life in 1962 and is the largest provider of qualifications in massage, aromatherapy and reflexology. All Government funded holistic and complementary therapy qualifications are supported by Skills for Health, the standards setting organisation for health related skills and the lead bodies for aromatherapy, reflexology and massage before being accredited to the National Framework by the Governments' Qualifications and Curriculum Authority.

Other continual professional development qualifications include Neal's Yard Remedies Practitioner Courses in Indian Head Massage, Natural and Organic Holistic Facials, Pregnancy Massage and Holistic Care, Aromatherapy in Pregnancy and advanced massage techniques. Soul Energy, Origins (Estée Lauder) and Aromatherapy Associates have provided additional massage training.

Insurance

Insurance is covered through Therapy Insurance Services for Medical Malpractice £3 Million covering Treatment Liability, Third Party and Product Liability. Hiscox Insurance Company underwrites the insurance cover.

Membership

holisticaholics therapists fully abide by the guidelines set out by the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT). The FHT Code of Ethics and Professional Practice is intended as a guide to excellence in professional conduct and practice.

A FHT member must:

• Act in the best interests of their clients and treat them with respect.
• Take responsibility for their actions.
• Respect other practitioners and health professionals.
• Practice only within the limits of their competence.
• Make sure their behaviour does not damage the professions reputation.
• Observe confidentiality.
• Practice within the law.
• Maintain standards of hygiene.
• Maintain and develop their knowledge and skills.

Particular attention in the code is paid to:

• Relationship to other professionals.
• Confidentiality.
• Limits of competence.
• Consent.
• Record keeping.
• Hygiene.
• Appearance and professional behaviour.
• Children and animals.
