Aftercare
During or following your treatment:
It is possible for some healing reactions and sensations to take place, due
to toxins being eliminated from the body. This is a good sign as it means the
body is being brought back into balance and more actively ridding itself of
these toxins. There is a slight possibility that some conditions may worsen
slightly before improving. However, these reactions should not be severe and
should be temporary, lasting up to 24 hours.
You may experience more than one or none of the following, as the body
adjusts itself back into balance:
- Tiredness, followed by revitalisation due to release of toxins.
- Achy/sore muscles due to the release of toxins and nerve fibres responding
to the massage.
- Increased awareness / heightened emotional state.
- Light-headed / Sleepy / Headachey.
- Emotional, tearful.
- Happy.
- Cold / flu-like.
- Energetic.
- Warm.
- Relaxed.
- Dizzy.
- Lack of appetite.
- Excessive thirst.
- Erythema (redness of skin).
- Increased bodily function, urine colour change.
After the treatment:
Now that you have received your treatment you can help yourself to gain
maximum benefit from it by following these aftercare tips:
- You may feel relaxed and tired after a massage. Rest after the treatments
and relax whenever possible to enable the full therapeutic benefits to take
effect.
- Take care if driving or working.
- Don't engage in sporting activities and avoid carrying heavy bags to
allow the body time to heal and settle.
- Avoid eating heavy meals. Only eat a light meal (possibly a healthy one -
vegetarian, vegan) to allow the body to concentrate on natural healing.
- Sometimes the detoxifying process can cause some slight nausea, so drink
plenty of water to flush away toxins that have just been released from the
tissues and to help you stay hydrated.
- Avoid alcohol or any other stimulants (including drugs, tea, coffee,
tobacco) for at least 12 hours after the treatment, as they will de-hydrate you.
- Regular treatments will reduce symptoms and promote healing more
effectively. The more balanced the body is the better it will cope with the
stresses of daily living as well as with unexpected trauma.
Aromatherapy aftercare
- There may be a possible allergic reaction to the oils used like redness,
itching, bumps on area of skin. If it is on a localised area then use a
teaspoon of olive oil and wash off oil. If it has affected the whole body then
seek advice from Sue: 07799 411 994. If in doubt have a patch test first.
- Be careful about going out in the sun. Don't expose yourself to full
sun or sunbeds.
- Avoid saunas and steam rooms.
- Try not to wash the oils off the body or use your own skin products for
12-24 hours as the oils need to work effectively and absorb into the skin.
Reflexology aftercare
- The treatment might make you feel emotional while you rebalance
yourself.
Thermal Auricular Therapy aftercare
- Avoid swimming, saunas and draughts.
- Wax may leave the ear later, possibly when you sleep at night.
